Born in Lugano (1941), Paolo Fumagalli graduated in architecture (1967) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. Together with Mauro L. Buletti opened a practice in Lugano, at the same time devoting himself to research and teaching as a lecturer by the Scuola Tecnica Superiore, Lugano-Trevano (now SUPSI – Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera italiana). Director and editor of the review of architecture “Rivista Tecnica della Svizzera Italiana” (1972-1982), he has been editor (1983-1989) and subsequently (1996-1998) Chairman of the Editorial Committee of the review “Werk Bauen + Wohnen”. He has been Chairman of the Commissione Cantonale del Paesaggio (2007-2013) and Chairman (subsequently Honorary Chairman) of the Fondazione Archivi Architetti Ticinesi. Paolo Fumagalli passed away on 7th July 2019.
